Lost Items
BEGGINER'S GUIDE
Beginner's Guide

As every game, Lost Items needs some explanations to be enjoyed by everyone.
Don't worry, it's not really hard, you just have to know one or two things...

Tip : When you see an image, place your cursor on it, more information will show.

The objective of Lost Items.
As of late July, 2017, the game has a real objective and a real end : you must find all the items and put them in the box to end the game.

Rules of the game.
Before I start with the rules, you must know that a maze is made of walls and floor. As you can understand, you can only walk on the floor. But the ghosts can fly without taking care of the walls.

Lost Items follows a set of simple rules, but you better know them.
-
The maze is not constant. That means it often changes. There are about four modifications every second, but each of them has a low chance of failing. It means that every second, the maze has changed, at least once.
-
The items too, are not constant. Ghosts are here for that. They won't harm you (at least for now) but they will pick up items at their feet, if they feel like it (they don't have real AI yet, so they don't go directly to the item). When they feel they carried the item too much, they put it back on the ground.
-
The box is here to store the items, and hide them from the ghosts. It means the ghosts won't steal what's inside the box. They are not supposed to do it, at least... but don't worry, they don't have a real AI, so they can't think by themselves that stealing what's inside the box could be a good idea.
-
The more you carry, the slower you are. I should've written it first, as it's the main and most important rule in this game. During the first tests, I saw many people thinking they could carry 20 items at once... erm, how to say they needed more than a second just to walk from one case to another ? Yeah, it's insane, I know. But you have one right they didn't have : you can put back the items on the ground, just pressing the same key than the storing items key. So, store your items in the box as soon as possible or experience the worst speed you've ever seen. Because remember, a single witch cannot carry 500 kilograms.

And that's all for the rules. For now.

Some powers to help you.
With everything said, the game doesn't look that cool. That's why some cool friend gave me a very cool idea. Adding powers. Yeah, you heard right : powers. Now I'm sure you sound like damn it's pretty cool, lots of special effects and all of that shit, I can't wait to see that. Well, the only special effects you'll see is a pretty ridiculous red for the infrared sights.

Yep, nothing like smoke, fireworks and that kind of effects. Not even a little fire. Nothing. Just red, red everywhere. So let's start and show some powers you can get by playing.

None.
No, that isn't a joke. There is a character without any power. You just walk around, like any other people. Just walk, find items and store them in the box. Nothing more, nothing less, just fun.

Speed.
Is there really any game with powers without the speed power ? Oh my god I'm a ferrari now, I walk at the speed of light, wow ! That's what I actually said the first time I drank a Speed Potion II in Minecraft. Well, that's not the case here. You are only a bit faster, and the items slow you less than normal.

Vision.
Your main problem in this game is that you see nothing but your nose. And that's right, you can't see more than two blocks further. Fortunately you have some eyes on your back and can see at 360°. But that's not enough. So the nice developer created a character special for you : you can now see 20% further. That's a lot ! (it actually isn't that much)

Jump.
It is the character I wanted to show you. It is the one I love the most, maybe because it's overpowered, like me. (yeah, I'm a god, remember ?). So, what does this character do ? It's simple, it jumps, like a kangaroo. It jumps everywhere. It can jump over a wall. Yeah, you know that thing that ten times higher than you ? It can jump over it. Yeah yeah, it's overpowered. But the thing is, it needs a lot of energy (and by a lot I really mean a lot, you use than energy, you sleep for ten days, no joke), so you can jump only once every 45 seconds (it was 30 at some time, and it may change, so if at the moment you read that text it is no longer 45 seconds, then don't rage against me, it just needs a lot of energy, but time changes and people get older, or stronger). Well, that's all, but it needed a whole paragraph.

Ghost Infrared Sights
That long name just means you can detect the ghosts around you. Not very far away, but more than just two blocks away. But what's the point ? will you ask me. I will answer there is no point yet, because it needs more ghosts for it to be efficient, but it currently has one thing you can enjoy. The infragreen sights.
What the heck is that ? It simply is infrared sights, but green. Does it has any use ? Yeah. A green ghost carries an item as a red one carries nothing. Useful, right ?

Item Infrared Sights & Box Infrared Sights
These two girls don't need really much explanation. The first one has infrared sights detecting nearby items and the second has the same for the box. I find them both really useful, but that's my point of view.

All the infrared sights lasts 60 seconds. They can be activated and deactivated as much as wanted.

Many levels for more fun.
The game doesn't stop there. The developer is so nice so he decided to implement 7 different levels. Here is a list of all the characteristics of these levels.
-
Beginner - 41 x 24 maze, 20 items, 10 ghosts.
-
Easy - 51 x 36 maze, 40 items, 20 ghosts.
-
Normal - 65 x 40 maze, 65 items, 32 ghosts.
-
Hard - 81 x 56 maze, 100 items, 50 ghosts.
-
Insane - 101 x 70 maze, 175 items, 65 ghosts.
-
Legendary - 125 x 90 maze, 280 items, 80 ghosts.
-
Impossible - 141 x 120 maze, 420 items, 100 ghosts.

Just so you know, the number of ghosts can't be more than half the number of items remaining on the map. It means that when there is only one item remaining, there are no ghosts alive. It prevents a ghost carrying too much the item and making you spend your whole life chasing it. The developer is clever, right ?
